Films of the Piedmont Triad: The Patron Saint of Liars

The Stokes County Arts Council presents The Patron Saint of Liars in their Films of the Piedmont Triad Series this Saturday, June 30th, at The Arts Place of Stokes.

Filmed at Vade Mecum in 1998, The Patron Saint of Liars stars Dana Delaney, Ellen Burstyn, Steven Gyllenhaal and Sada Thompson.  An adaptation of the book, the tale of faith and everyday miracles unfolds with compelling drama, with Delaney giving a standout performance in a portrait of a complex, tortured woman.

Running away from her husband and an unhappy marriage, Delaney’s character Rose Cleardon is two months pregnant and seeks refuge with nuns at St. Genevieve’s, a home for unmarried mothers.  Vade Mecum provided the perfect location for this movie, and local viewers will get to see the property as never before-bustling and full of life.

Part the Films of the Piedmont Triad Series, The Patron Saint of Liars is the second free film screening made possible by partnership between the Stokes County Arts Council and the Piedmont Triad Film Commission.

Formed in 1993, The Piedmont Triad Film Commission provides motion picture assistance ranging from location scouting to pre and post-production services.  Featured productions have included “The Longest Ride,” “Leatherheads,” “Junebug,” and “Bull Durham,” as well as television movies, series, and reality/documentary productions.
