The Danbury Songwriters: Jack Benedict Songwriter Roundtable

Thursday, August 15, 2019 The Danbury Songwriters welcome Jack Benedict and guests for a Songwriters Roundtable at The Arts Place.

Jack Benedict writes as if he just awoke on the wrong train in a foreign country, lacking a map. His songs evoke the endless, itinerant stumble toward safe harbor, running the gamut from the deeply personal to the wry irreverent, and littered with what a fellow writer referred to as “…people I’m happy to have met but glad I’m not”

This is his third appearance at ArtPlace and he considers it home. It’s his favorite place to play.

Joining Jack for the Songwriters Roundtable are Andy Baker and Joe Shields.

Michigan singer/songwriter Andy Baker mines deep into his experiences as a father, veterinarian, ironman triathlete and humble ponderer to create music that stirs the heart, the soul, and occasionally the funny bone! He shares his songs on a variety of instruments including guitar, dobro, bass, and even octave mandolin. His many accolades include a finalist spot at the 2017 Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition.

Kerrville, Texas singer/songwriter Joe Shields: From his earlier career as an award winning underground over the top cartoonist/animator to his newer career as a singer songwriter Joe Shields is a monster of happy mayhem. He rarely forgets all the words to his songs but if he does… he fails spectacularly. His big adorable round head leaves the audience in a forgiving place at first sight. You will love him mostly because you can see that he loves you. Picture a bull in a china shop with a guitar and a hall pass on his way to another china shop. 2016 KERRVILLE new folk winner
