UNCSA Jazz Ensemble at King Central Park

The award winning UNC School of the Arts Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Ron Rudkin, will present a free public performance on Sunday, April 29, 2018 beginning at 4pm at the King Central Park Amphitheatre, 302 Kirby Road in King.

The performance, sponsored by the Stokes County Arts Council and City of King, will offer an extensive range of Big Band jazz styles, including traditional swing, Latin, fusion and contemporary, with selections by Henry Mancini, Freddie Green, Chick Corea, John Coltrane, Joe Garland, Count Basie and more.

The UNC School of the Arts Jazz Ensemble has performed in concert jazz festivals, concert halls and events across the Southeast.  Director Ron Rudkin has led student jazz combos on summer tours in Europe as part of UNCSA’s former International Music Program, and for more than a decade directed all-star UNCSA alumni jazz groups and the UNCSA Jazz Ensemble at Manteo, NC as part the school’s summer festival series.
